ABOUT US
Based in Cold Spring Harbor, NY and Manhattan, Open Road Publishing is a leading travel guide publisher with guides to many countries, cities and special destinations in the US and around the world. We have been publishing quality books since 1993. Jonathan Stein is the publisher and Avery Cardoza is the co-publisher. We have just completed a transformation of Open Road's mission and look, and we relaunched our main series of travel guides in Fall 2006. Our new "Best Of" guides, beginning with Best of Ireland and Best of Honduras, are 4-color, with lots of photos, maps, and a new concept in travel: putting together the amount of time you really have for your trip with the best things to do, places to stay and eat, and activities. These new-concept books are already taking the travel world by storm!

Who the heck are we?
Open Road is the brainchild of Jonathan Stein and Avery Cardoza. We started it in 1993 and are still going strong. Jon used to work in politics and realized too late that travel was way more fun. Avery runs Cardoza Publishing and Cardoza Entertainment and is the world's foremost gambling publisher. They've been friends since college, except for those first seven years after graduation when neither could remember the other's name.

What other kinds of guides do we publish?
In addition to our new Best Of destination guides, we publish family travel guides, menu translator guides, and Made Easy guides featuring barebones info on great walks and sights in the world's major cities. Our books are on a two-year update cycle, although some are updated more frequently.
